Pinchin Architects have been appointed by the London Borough of Haringey to collaborate on an ambitious programme to deliver 1,000 homes at council rents by 2022. We are proud to be working with a group of specialist consultants and key stakeholders to help them realise these bold targets. We will analyse and develop designs for 9 sites in their programme, ranging in scale from single houses in the Noel Park Conservation area to a 9 storey multi-unit tower in Wood Green.

Farrant Avenue forms part of the Noel Park Conservation Area. Noel Park in North London is a planned community built in the late 9th and early 20th centuries consisting of 2,200 model dwellings, designed by Rowland Plumbe. The area was developed as the Noel Park Estate an a tract of land on the edge of Wood Green. It was one of four developments on the outskirts of London built by the Artizans, Labourers &General Dwellings company.

The proposal has been designed to sit comfortably within the street scape yet allows a Clear distinction in relation to the era it has been built. Eaves heights have been retained and a subtle brick solider course has been used below. Projecting brick details below the window openings are used in a contemporary way allowing some of the visual detailing of the existing properties to be incorporated. Soldier courses and other brick detailing are used on the facades to articulate elements of the building and to add interest and character.

The proposed dwelling will provide a three-bedroom, four person home with and internal floor area of 118.2m2.
