Pinchin Architects were appointed on a project to redesign the interior and extend a traditional late Victorian terraced house in Mile End by adding a mansard roof extension. This property is situated within a conservation area so careful thought and consideration of materials were needed for the design of the extension.
Due to the constraints of the property the design process focused on creating space within a very tight floor plan by connecting views through the property and allowing the light into the depths of the plan.
On this project we worked closely with our clients on the interior design of the whole house refurbishment and new master suite within the roof extension. Working collaboratively we were able to come up with different ideas, specific materials, textures and colours to create spaces which were in line with their style and created a really unique property.
To create the new floor of accommodation a reconfiguration of the first floor hallway was essential to link the ground and second floor. The new floor of accommodation provides a new modern master-bedroom and en-suite bathroom which has views out over the conservation area towards the city.
